Sod Assurance Policy

Hawaiian Turfgrass follows a Sod Assurance Policy for all sod purchased. Proprietary sod grasses produced by Hawaiian Turfgrass are grown from Certified stock that has successfully come through the Hawaiian quarantine process. Our grasses are planted on plastic to keep out weeds and hold the root mass intact. The grass is fertilized, watered, and trimmed under optimum conditions with constant supervision in compliance with the standards and requirements for turf set forth by the State of Hawaii Department of Agriculture, and following Certification procedures required by The Turfgrass Group, our licensing entity.

We have personally inspected the final product upon harvesting to be free of weeds and disease before delivering it freshly cut to our customers. This Sod Assurance Policy is in effect for 24 hours from the time of delivery. Hawaiian Turfgrass assures that the sod will perform at its maximum potential in the new environment, provided that the customer properly waters and maintains the new sod.

An immediate watering schedule must be activated upon installation to insure proper and timely establishment. Also, the performance of the new sod is dependent upon the pre-existing condition of the area in which the sod is to be installed. Soil preparation is the responsibility of the customer prior to the delivery.

Sod is a perishable product and requires immediate installation and watering. Hawaiian Turfgrass cannot accept responsibility for conditions after the sod leaves our hands nor those beyond our control which lead to growth failure, such as:

  • Improper or noxious sub-soil
  • Improper installation
  • Sod not installed immediately upon delivery
  • Improper watering/Lack of moisture
  • Disease inherent to site
  • Annual or perennial weeds that develop after installation
  • Improper maintenance or neglect
  • Planting in direct shade
  • Other unforeseen environmental issues

The extent of Hawaiian Turfgrass’ responsibility will not exceed the re-supplying of the failed sod, if said failure occurs within 24 hours of installation. In no event shall the cost of the sod replaced be greater than the cost of the original order purchased including delivery.

Purchases including installation will require complete acceptance of the work performed by the customer prior to the departure of the attending crew. Any unsatisfactory points of labor must be satisfied upon completion. The customer will dispose of any sod remaining after the installation is complete.

Hawaiian Turfgrass is not responsible for any grass damaged during the establishment period. All new sod should be allowed thirty days before any traffic is allowed on the grass.

If you, the customer, are not immediately satisfied with the turf upon delivery, it is mandatory that you contact the office within 24 hours of the delivery or this policy will NOT be honored.
